A great opportunity to learn from one of the best farriers around on a days shoemaking clinic at his home forge in Scotland.
Aimed at every level from apprentices and basic shoemaking techniques up to advanced level and anything from self improvement through to practising for either an international competition or exam.
Grant has always been a successful competitor since his apprenticeship.
The day can be totally flexible and tailored to individual requirements but will generally consist of:
My name is Grant Watt. I am 30 years old and I live in Blairgowrie, Perthshire. I qualified as a farrier in 2014. After qualifying, I spent time working with many different farriers around the UK and also overseas. I ran a successful business in Sussex, shoeing mainly competition horses, before relocating back to Scotland in 2019.
Since beginning my apprenticeship I have always enjoyed being an active competing farrier. I pride myself in my shoeing and shoemaking ability and I am always looking to better my skills.
I have competed successfully nationally and internationally, both individualy and as part of a team. I am proud to say that I have represented Scotland for over 10 years on the national team. My biggest achievement to date was becoming National Champion in 2019.
I admire the farriery trade for being such supportive industry where we can all share knowledge and experiences very willingly. This is something I really enjoy and I am excited to try and pass on any skills that I can to others.
